01What Rockstar Has (and Hasn't) Officially Confirmed

As of July 2026, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not published an official file size or storage requirement for GTA 6. No GB figure appears on the PlayStation Store product page, the Microsoft Store listing, or the Rockstar Newswire. What has been officially confirmed about the download and pre-load window is limited to the following:

• Pre-loading opens November 12, 2026 — one week before launch. This was confirmed in Take-Two's June 2026 pre-order announcement alongside confirmation that the physical edition ships as a one-time download code rather than a disc. Redeeming the code from November 12 begins the download before launch day.
• GTA 6 is a download-only install on both consoles. The physical edition contains no disc. There is nothing to insert — the full game file must be downloaded after redeeming the code, regardless of how you buy it.
• The release date is November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC release date has been announced by Rockstar.

The file size itself — the number you need to clear space for — has not been officially published. Rockstar will need to submit it to Sony and Microsoft before pre-loading opens on November 12, so the official figure should appear on storefront pages in the weeks before that date.
